We Are Getting Their Attention
We are getting their attention now in South Dakota! We held up our part of the national goal of 5% and even did a little better! While Johnson may have fell short nationally, South Dakotans stood up for liberty, peace, and, sanity.
I started as the new state chair at the very beginning of what turned out to be the most unpredictable election of all time. I was scrambling to network with West River Libertarians and trying to start a ground game in East River. It turned out to be more difficult than I thought, but with the help of some very smart and resourceful people we were able to send a message to status-quo South Dakota politics: We have arrived.
We are very excited about the future of The Libertarian Party in our great state. Unfortunately our ballot status is not dictated by the Presidential race. South Dakota ballot access is defined by the Gubernatorial race in 2 years.
It will be our main goal in the upcoming months to vet a quality and respectable candidate to lead our party in the upcoming election. We will also be looking for candidates to fill all the races. My personal goal would be to see no candidate go unopposed in South Dakota!
Finally, we are working on fundraising for all of these ideas and few other things. We have a lot of basic and foundational party goals that we will focus on in the coming weeks after the election hangover wears off. We are currently doing a very special limited time only fundraiser on our Tee Spring site teespring.com/lpsouthdakota. Please do us a favor, buy something cool, and support liberty in South Dakota.
I hope someday to personally thank all 20,845 South Dakotans that voted FOR the best candidate and not against the lesser evil. It was truly a blast jumping into this head first and I can’t wait to see what we can do next.
