Almost Convention Time!

Hello Libertarians! We are less than 2 weeks away from our 2017 State Convention and we couldn’t be more excited! It’s kind of an off year politically so it’s going to be an unconvention of sorts. We’re gonna have speakers, we’re gonna elect new officers, and more importantly we’re gonna celebrate liberty and everything else Libertarians hold dear.
We couldn’t come up with a better place to celebrate freedom than Monk’s House of Ale Repute in Sioux Falls. Monks is a nationally recognized tap house and a legendary cornerstone of Sioux Falls.
If you can’t make it into Monks then we’ll be live streaming our speakers on our official Facebook page.

We have several exciting and inspiring speakers lined up that have REAL WORLD experience in applying Libertarian values to government.

Elizabeth Dahl is a sitting city council member from what is now called the “most Libertarian city” in the country, Crystal Minnesota. She will be talking to us about what it’s like run (and win) local elections and how we can change our future by running locally.

James Schneider is the current Iowa Libertarian Party State Chair and a crucial member of the 2016 Johnson/Weld team that helped us get record voters in South Dakota. He will be speaking to us about local political action and community engagement to help grow our party in 2018.

Laura Ebke – our headline speaker is a rising star in the Libertarian Party. She was elected to the Nebraska Legislature in 2014 and is a classic Mid-West Libertarian that holds true to her values. She truly believes and acts on the principles of minimum government, maximum freedom. Everything from gun rights, education reform, prison reform, and taxes, Laura has proven over and over again that she stands for liberty for everyone she represents.

We also have 2 special guests representing New Approach SD, the organization behind the legalization of marijuana, medical marijuana, and Death with Dignity. With your help, all 3 of these issues will be on the ballot in 2018. Melissa Mentele and George Hendrickson will be speaking and they will be available to answer all questions or concerns regarding these proposals. The petitions to sign up for 1, 2, or all 3 initiatives will also be provided. You only need to be a registered voter in South Dakota to sign!

If you just want to learn more about The Libertarian Party and our values, then please feel free to join us, hang out, and enjoy yourself for a bit. If you’re already leaning Libertarian and want to get involved you can join us as an active member on July 22nd for just $5.00 membership fee. That membership will also give you the ability to vote for officers or even become an officer and put your leadership skills in action. You can help shape the future of politics in South Dakota starting July 22nd in Sioux Falls!
